KKR & Co. Inc. (formerly known as Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co) is a financial investment giant based in New York.
Its music interests have included a 51% stake in BMG, which it acquired in 2009.
KKR sold that stake to Bertelsmann – making Bertelsmann BMG’s 100% owner – in 2013 for approximately $1bn.
In 2020, KKR joined a $48m round in royalty-free music and content platform – and Epidemic Sound rival – Artlist.
And in Q1 2021, KKR announced that it had acquired a majority stake in a music catalog created by three-time Grammy winner Ryan Tedder.Music Business Worldwide
